Poems
This is a page with a few of my poems. I decided to consolidate them all into one place. I hope you enjoy them and please feel free to post comments. I would like to know what people think about them.
The World As I Know It.
The world as I know it
is a wonderful place.
The sounds and the smells.
The touch and the tastes.
Can bring a joyous smile
To my young face.
The laughter of a child or
the sound of a gentle stream.
The birds in the morning sun and
the wind calmly blowing through the trees.
Makes the screams of horror and violence
seem like nothing but a terrible dream.
The delicate scent of a beautiful rose or
the warm comfortable smell of a lovers’ cologne.
The smell of the rain on a warm summers night and
the subtle fragrance of candles burning bright.
Mask the stench of pain and poverty
that people of this world have known.
The gentle touch of a lovers’ caress or
the warmth of water against your skin.
The coolness of a delicately blowing winter breeze and
the soft cozy welcome of a comfortable bed.
Covers the chill and hopelessness
of dreams that once might have been.
The flavor of hot newly baked bread or
the subtle taste of Thanksgiving Pumpkin pie.
The tangy sweetness of a tall glass of lemonade and
the ripe juiciness of a freshly picked apple.
Conceals the hunger and degradation
that no one can answer the question of “why.”
The sights that you see
I no longer can.
The violence of this remarkable world
took that from me.
I remember the colors of a rainbow and
the sight of my love.
Recalling those memories I can only see
how the nightmares of other people can become reality.
I see the faces of the people
who stole my sight from me.
The world as I know it
is a remarkable place.
The sounds and the smells.
The touch and the tastes.
Can bring a cynical smile
to my scarred face.
Love’s Power
He walks slowly through the forest
until he finds the place he seeks.
He knells down on the forest floor
and whispers through the trees.
As he rests there he remembers
of eyes that sparkle with laughter
of hair the color of ebony
and a smile full of joy at natures wonders.
He recalls a time when the world
was at his call and men envied what he had.
Yet he took it all for granted
and lost what he held so dear.
The love he once shared died long before his wife.
She never was told how much she meant to him
before circumstances took her life.
The words he whispers fall upon deaf ears.
She’s no longer around to hear them
because of what he feared.
He never said he loved her for fear
that she would leave.
Was he mistaken to think his love
for her would him to his knees?
She lies there under the cold, hard earth.
She died not knowing what she was worth.
He would have slayed dragons,
forged castles, and braved hell
for the woman he adored.
But he forgot to tell her this
and she feared she was ignored.
She took her life to end her pain.
Not knowing that her pain
and his were the same.
So now he sits there waiting
for death to take him away.
His only wish to be with her
for the rest of eternity.
Sadly, He forgot how much he means to me.

Wow, These are good. The second one is sad. You will have to give me to back ground for these sometime. I have written many poems but mine are extreamly sad.
