Goodbye 2008 Hello 2009 January 1, 2009
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings , add a commentSo a new year is in front of us. I am hopeful that it will be a better year then the last, But I do know that the calender starting over does not mean a fresh start to everything.
I went out for New Years Eve and rang in the New Year with friends. I had fun and even though I wasn’t really sure I wanted to go, I am glad I went. It has been too long since Michelle and I hung out.
My resolution for this year is to once again hit my goal weight and this time stay there. I know that a lot of people make the same promise, but I feel I have to stick with it. I have a lot of clothes I spent good money on that don’t fit anymore.
As to the rest of my life, well work is fine, I enjoy the friends I have, I have a wonderful family and I am happy being single. I don’t know that I want any of that to change. But then again since I am female it is my prerogative to change my mind at anytime.
Christmas is behind us now. December 28, 2008
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings , add a commentSo the major holiday is over and soon things will get back to normal. We had a good holiday for the most part. It was Chloe’s first Christmas so we took tons of pictures of the baby. The kids were all spoiled with gifts and it was nice to have everyone together for an extended period of time.
A feeling of accomplishment. December 18, 2008
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings , add a commentSo Monday night I got home from work and discovered the locking mechanism for the deadbolt was broken. The door would only lock from the outside which really does us no good. I went to Home Depot today and picked up a new set of locks. A deadbolt and a new knob with a lock built in. After searching high and low for a screwdriver I found one in my emergency roadside kit and took the old lock off. The instructions on how to put in the new one were really un-clear so I had to wing it. I am really surprised that I managed to get the new locks on with a minimum of fuss. They work great. I was worried that I would get started on the project and then have to call my brother-in-law for help. I am not very handy with fixing things or with tools so for me this is a big deal. I managed to do a home repair all by myself.
Back to work and some other stuff. December 15, 2008
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings , add a commentSo after having a whole week off work, I go back tomorrow evening. I am not really looking forward to it, but I know that is just because I have enjoyed not working all this week.
The closer to the end of the year it is, the busier and more stressful work is. Between hitting our end of the year goal, worrying about the state of the economy and our jobs, and doing all the holiday stuff the stress level is just going to get work until after Christmas.
Oh and to add insult to injury the holidays mean cookies, candy canes, fudge, pie and a bunch of other stuff I should not eat. I am so tired of fighting to drop the 20 pounds that I have been sticking around for the last year. I will do really well and there will be no change. I will continue to do well and there will be no change. So I give up and eat junk. The good news is there is still no change, but I am tired of maintaining. I want to get back into my skinny jeans. I rejoined Weight Watchers Online hoping that since I was paying for it again I would do better. So far that has not helped. I refuse to take diet pills and I won’t starve myself, but I can’t seem to get rid of the weight this time around. I hate feeling fat. I hate knowing that I have clothes I bought when I lost the weight the first time that I can not wear now. *sigh* I hate the fact that every time I start my running program again something gets in the way and messes it up. I just don’t feel healthy and I tend to not have a lot of the energy I had when I was running before. I need to find a good balance and cut something out to allow me more time during the week to focus on my running and just being more active.
Oh enough of a rant for me. I am heading to bed now.
Test. December 13, 2008
Posted by Staci in : Quiz Results , add a commentSo I took a personality test. One of the “just for fun” ones on the internet. The scary part is that when I take the Myers-Briggs test the results are pretty much the same.

Shopping December 13, 2008
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings , add a commentWell I have spent my vacation doing my holiday shopping. I am pretty much all done with the exception of one or two little things. I was actually a lot busier this week then I had thought. I was out and about most of the day everyday and rarely had much time to do anything else. I was going to go hiking on Friday and hopefully find a couple of geocaches, but I didn’t manage to get out in time. By the time I could make it, it was so late in the afternoon I was worried about it getting dark while I was on the trail so I decided against it. Since I don’t work Wednesdays anymore I will try to go out this coming week and visit a park near me to do a bit of hiking.
Vacation December 10, 2008
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings, Vacations , add a commentSo I am on a mini-vacation. I am staying at the resort, doing my holiday shopping, and just spending time by myself. Most of my shopping is done. I just have a couple more things to pick up and then I can relax until Christmas.
I went out Geocaching today after I did some shopping. I went out for 2 caches and didn’t find either one. On the upside, I spent a lot of time outdoors in beautiful weather and did a lot of walking. I have a longer hiking/caching trip planned for later this week since the weather is so great right now.
Last time I stayed here on vacation the internet connection was horrible. This time it is much better so I plan to work on a couple of my web pages and maybe set up a message board forum and chat room for my nephew and his friends to play on. One I can monitor and control who has access to make sure the kids don’t end up releasing info to strangers. I have a lot of time on my hands late at night while the rest of the world sleeps so this is a project that will keep me busy while still letting me feel productive.
Well that is all I have for the moment. I will post again later this week I think.
Thanksgiving has come and gone. November 28, 2008
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings , 1 comment so farWell the holiday is over. It passed pretty uneventful this year. My sister, her husband, and 2 of their 4 kids visited for about an hour in the morning. The baby is getting so big. She can say Mama, Dada, and Baba. When she is happy she smiles, laughs, and claps her hands. I can’t believe how big she has gotten since I saw her just 2 weeks ago.
The remainder of the afternoon/night it was just me and my mother. We had turkey (made in a slow cooker this time), mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, and of course pumpkin pie. We didn’t worry about using the good china or even eating at the formal table. We sat in the living room and watched NCIS on dvd pretty much all day. A nice relaxing holiday.
I am Thankful for a lot of things. More then I can put into words. I have a great family, good friends (both real and imagined *grin*), a good job, and my health just to name a few.
I have one more week of work and then I am on vacation for a week to get all my shopping done. I have done a bit of it online already, but I know I will need to get some stuff in the stores so the week off work will be nice to have. I can get up a bit earlier then usual, spend the day shopping and the evening wrapping presents.
Well that is all I have for now. There are a lot of nights I think of things to post on here while I am laying in bed, but the next day I either don’t remember clearly what I wanted to write about, or I don’t have the time to do it. I really need to keep a notebook by my bed so I can write down the fleeting bits of inspiration that I have late at night while all alone with my thought.
Running again October 21, 2008
Posted by Staci in : Running , add a commentWell I decided to start running again. I have missed it, and while I still lack motivation I forced myself to use my treadmill after work tonight. Since it has been so long since I ran, I restarted the C25K program that I used in the past. Tonight was Week 1 Day 1. I went 1.17 miles in 20 minutes. Not bad considering how long it has been. My legs are a bit sore, but I feel really good because I finished the run. Now to keep it up.
I found one. September 19, 2008
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings , add a commentI happened to stop in to the local game store today to check on a game I had reserved and they happended to have a Wii Fit. I have wanted one since they came out, but had not been able to locate on. Using the last of my bonus money I bought it. I am looking forward to trying it out tomorrow afternoon.
