A plan August 31, 2007
Posted by Staci in : Running , add a commentOk I think I have a plan to help with my running. I have a modified version of the OHR plan that is built on distance instead of time. It starts out with 3 mile runs which is a distance I know I can do. I am going to use that for the next 8 weeks to help build up to a 6 mile long run. After that I will find another plan or create another plan to work up to even more distance. I plan on doing it slow and steady to prevent injury.
I can’t wait until it is cooler outside and I can take my long runs outside to work on my pace. The treadmill is boring and I know I will never manage to run Eugene with confidence if I can’t pace myself outside at least somewhat.
2 runs August 31, 2007
Posted by Staci in : Running , add a commentI did not log Tuesday’s run on Tuesday night so this post is for 2 runs.
Aug 28th Run
1.76 miles in 30:48 minutes.
Avg pace - 17:32
This one was not so good. My legs ached so bad during this one I cut it short.
Aug 30st run
2.51 miles in 43:58 minutes
Avg pace - 17:30
This was much better then Tuesday’s run, but still not as good as I wanted. Even though I run inside on a treadmill I was sweeting like 10 whole men. My hair was so wet it looked like I had just gotten out of the shower. I need to get a better fan for in the torture chamber to help circulate the air better. That and a tv for that room are my next semi-running related purchases. If I am going to work on my base and be in there for longer then an hour at a time, I need to improve the environment.
13.1 August 25, 2007
Posted by Staci in : General Ramblings, Running , 2commentsI am seriously considering signing up for a half-marathon that takes place in May. I would have 9 months to get ready. My biggest issue is I can only run 3 miles straight but a half is 13.1 I know I don’t have to run all of that, and I would get to travel to Oregon and meet up with the 30’s from KR in person.
August 24th Run August 24, 2007
Posted by Staci in : Running , add a commentThis was a pretty good run. 3 miles. It felt nice and East most of the way, but toward the end my legs started to feel heavy. They still feel a bit sore, but I did a few stretches and will do some more before bed to help with that.

Aug 22nd run August 22, 2007
Posted by Staci in : Running , add a commentOk this run was not so great. Mile one felt awesome. Slow but strong. Mile two was teh suck. I think think I started out a bit too fast in mile one and that contributed to mile two being so difficult. I wanted to hit 3 miles again, but that was not possible.

Posted by Staci in : Running , add a commentOk I the last few days I have had no motivation. Well tonight I think I got it back. I knew I had to run tonight. I made sure to drink 8 cups of water during the day while at work so I would be well hydrated. My goal was 2.25 miles. Well I hit that mark and slowed from a run to a fast walk. I walked for 1 minute while I took a couple of drinks from my water bottle, and then I started running again. I made it to 3.1 miles. That last .10 was really slow, but I made it. I would be dancing with joy but I am recovering. I have never hit that distance before. I know I wanted to hit 3.1 miles with out a walk break by the end of August and was fairly sure I could do it, but I am so confident now. I feel great. Empowered. Overjoyed.
3.1 miles in 49:37 minutes - 16:01 pace.

A surprise August 1, 2007
Posted by Staci in : Emotions, General Ramblings, Work Stuff , add a commentSo there is a guy in the department I work in who did a really nice thing for me. He is a co-worker who started training with me for the fraud department back in April. He is a nice enough guy and I have done some favors for him such as carpooling when he could not drive due to injury. He comes to me every now and then with questions on accounts because he knows I have background with the system. Well tonight he wrote an page long letter to my boss telling him how wonderful I am to take time out of my day to help him out. He said tons of nice things about me. I was so touched. I felt a little guilty because sometimes I feel like maybe I am being short with him, but I guess he doesn’t seem to feel that I am. After some of my past issues at work and people making a few complaints that I was unfriendly, not helpful, and condescending this is such a change.
First run of the Month August 1, 2007
Posted by Staci in : Running , add a commentOk even though I did this run on the night of the 31st, it was after midnight so I am going to count it as my first run in August. It was tough going at first. I was not sure I would get through the whole 2.25 miles that I had planned, but “I got comfortable being uncomfortable” and stuck it out. I did pick up my pace on the last .25 because I felt like I had the energy. I might have been able to push to 2.50 if I had stayed at my normal snails pace, but L&O comes on at 2am and I wanted to watch it while I posted my run results.
