Saturday Night’s Run July 29, 2007

I just finished up my run for tonight a little bit ago. 2.25 miles in 37:51 minutes. I know my pace is slower then a snail, but I still feel good about the run. I run indoors on a TM and was still sweating like 10 whole men by the time I finished. This month is going to be my lowest mileage since I started running in April. The days off due to the tattoo and then my work schedule getting changed around the last two weeks have really put a damper on my running progress. I am hoping for a much better month in August.

Tonights run was pretty good. It was a bit of a struggle toward the end, but not so much that I doubted I could make it. I am confident that I will be able to run a full 5k with out walking by the beginning of September.

Tonights run felt pretty good. I took mile one rather east since my running schedule has been so messed up due to working longer days the last 2 weeks. Mile two I took more west just to push myself.

So I have been in what my company calls “on the job” training for my fraud position since the last week of May. Normally that lasts anywhere from 5 to 17 weeks depending on how fast you meet quality goals. Well we were a big group so they fell behind in checking our work for accuracy. I found out today (Monday) that I met exceeded expectations and based on my first 4 weeks of work being checked am considered released. I achieved 99.85% accuracy for those weeks. My one error was a very small one that has no impact on our customers. Based on that I was released after just those 4 weeks of work being checked. I have to keep it secerty from the people in my training group until Friday when the formal announcement will be made but offically I can listen to my ipod, work overtime, take vacation, and flex my schedule as needed. I am so thrilled to have done that. My coach said the he expected me to to be first released but he figured on the 5 weeks for me, and I exceeded even his expectations.

Much needed run. July 20, 2007

So after all the annoyance and upset of the yesterday and this afternoon I really needed this run to destress. I did 2 miles not including the warm up and cool down.

So on Wednesday night I get home from work and discover all my email accounts have been hacked in to. My yahoo, hotmail, gmail, and my justemail main account. All my other online services were compromised. My neopets account is empty, I had to change over my paypal account and a few others. I was so pissed last night you can not imagine. I am in the process of recovery now. I will never be able to get back in to my hotmail, gmail, or yahoo account at this point. So please if you have one of those email address to contact me, get rid of it. I will be emailing people with a brand new email account once I have one set up. In the mean time, if you need to reach me, you can post here.

I feel wonderful.

My running schedule this week has been all out of whack. I did manage 1.25 on Monday, but on Thursday I walked instead of ran. I figured that I would have a tough time on todays long run due to that. Now I was supposed to do 2.10 miles or so. That was my plan before this week started. My normal treadmill setting is 3.7 miles per hour. Due to how little I ran this week, I was worried about doing 1 mile let alone 2.1 so I decided to cover the display on my treadmill and put my garmin in the cup holder and just run. I set the speed at 3.5 miles per hour which is only a bit slower then my normal turtle speed, turned on Roger Clyne and the Peace Makers, and just started running. I figured I would go until I had to stop. Well when my lungs started burning I took my garmin out of the cup holder. I had gone 2.73 miles. I was amazed, astounded, and so very proud of myself. Now since I like nice round numbers I pushed myself for the additional .02 to have a total running distance of 2.75 miles with out walking a single step of it. I think my legs could have made it to 3 miles, but my lungs were on fire so I stopped there. I have never in my life ran that far.

I had my garmin set to auto lap at the mile mark so I do have splits.

2.75 miles in 46:05 minutes.

Because of the tattoo on Saturday today was just susposed to be a nice easy 1 mile run. Well I did a mile, walked my cool down, and decided to do another .25 just because I could. I know I could have done the full 2 miles but since I planned on 2 miles tomorrow I decided I had gone far enough.

1 mile run at 14:26 mile pace.
0.25 mile run at 15:22 pace.

This day won’t be seen again in our lifetime.

Sort of depressing.

But on a happy note I got a new tattoo. Since I got the one on my right wrist on 06/06/06 I had to get one today as well. I was planning on a small scarab on my ankle. Well that is not what I got. I have a beautiful scarab on the middle of my back. It flows really well with the ankh. Sort of like it is coming out form the top of it. The colors are wonderful. 7 colors to go along with the day. Even more symbolism.

Now the scarab means many things, and I originally decided on it as a symbol of good luck to go with the 7’s but it also means renewal of life. The Egyptians believed the the scarab represented the self-created God Khepri. So it was looked upon as a symbol of creation, renewal, and resurrection. My first tattoo was an effort for me to feel alive and in control of my out of control world. While I know I can not control everything, I can learn and grow from the past. I have renewed my confidence in myself, and re-created my life in such a way that I am happy and content. I have wonderful friends, great hobbies, and more confidence in myself then I have ever had. I don’t need anyone to make me happy or make my life full. I make myself happy. I socialize, I read, I run, and I my life is so full I that when I think about the past I see how empty parts of it really were. So this new art goes along with the old.

Life, Protection, Luck, and Renewal. 4 tattoos, 4 meanings.

5K training run July 5, 2007

So I decided to do my long run today instead of next Saturday because I have an appointment on Saturday to get a new tattoo.

This run felt pretty good. I was a bit discouraged this afternoon when I read a post from one of my online running buddies that she PR’d a walking 5k faster then I can run one. But then I thought about it. 2 months ago I could not run 2 minutes let alone two miles. I might be slow, and I might not be able to run the whole thing yet, but I will get there.

I am slowly increasing my long run distance by .05 each week by increasing the first part of my 5k plan by .05 and reducing the walking portion by .05 each week.

This was tough. I knew running with a full stomach was not a great idea, but I thought I waited long enough to run after I ate. I was going to do the 5k program with the longest run being 2.05 miles but I only managed the 2.05 miles.
