So I found this neat little plug-in for my site that allows me to put moods next to my posts.  Then I found the Beauty and the Beast mood theme files to use with the plug-in.  I think they are pretty cool, but I am not totally sure I will keep them.  They do fit with the overall theme of the site though.

The Beauty Within June 18, 2006

So I picked this layout because most days I think there is beauty in everything no matter how simple.  It took me a long time to get to that point.  There are days that I still have a really hard time seeing any beauty in myself, but they are getting fewer and farther between.

I think I will keep this layout for a long time to help remind me of that fact.  Life is to live and enjoy.  I have always known that, but some days it has been hard to enjoy what is going on around me or to see the bright side of the most horrible situations.  You never know how long you have to be a part of it, or how long someone you love will be with you to enjoy it.

I managed to make it past father’s day.  This is the second one since my dad passed and I know that has contributed to my mood.  I managed to get through a lot of seconds this year.  The second Christmas with out him, my second birthday after he died, his second birthday after he died, the second anniversary of his death, and now the second father’s day.  It does get easier with time like everyone says, but it will never be something that I can shrug off like it did not or does not matter.

The Event Poker TOC June 10, 2006

So I played in the Toc.  I was thrilled to have qualifed because I started in the season so late.  However, I was out before the break.  There were 78 total players.  The bar was totally packed with people.  Chuck took me out when I did an all in raise to 1600 I was already in the big blind for 800 so I really did not have much of a choice but to raise and hope for the best.  Even though I lost I had a blast playing.

My trip to Vegas June 8, 2006

So Monday after work I got on a plane with my sister and our friend Snow to head out to Vegas.  We landed at 11pm and went directly to Hart and Huntington at The Palms Hotel.  As shocking as it was we were able to get in that night for our tattoos.  I will post pictures of them in the next couple of days.  It was offically 06/06/06 when they were done.  Very cool.  *grin*  We then walked across the street to the Gold Coast Casino to check in and eat dinner.  After a great meal we sat down a a Pai Gow table for about 2 hours and played.

On Tuesday we headed out to the Stardust for some more fun and games.  We played for several hours and spent the early evening in the Jazz bar listening to some great music.   Then we went back to the Gold Coast, ate dinner and played Pai Gow for a bit.  Snow headed up to bed early so Cindi and I moved over to a Three Card poker table and played there for a bit.  After a few hours Cindi was about $60 up for the trip so far and I was about even.

On Wednesday morning we had Ice Cream and Starbucks for breakfast, checked out of the room and headed to the Rio for some shopping.  I got two new shirts, a cool bracelet that can cover my tat when I have job interviews, and a few other small items.  We then played some more cards.  I did pretty good at Let It Ride, and was ahead at Texas Hold’em when we headed back to the Gold Coast for dinner.  After dinner we had 2 hourse before we had to leave for the airport so we went to get in a few last minute games.  Snow went to play roulette while Cindi and I went to the poker room.

Cindi was out pretty early, but I was doing pretty good until I got a bad beat.  I had pocket aces so I raised pre-flop, but since it was a limit table, I could only raise so much.  I was unable to scare out the one caller.  He was in for $4 and I could only raise to $6.  The flop was 4-j-4.  At this point I know I have 2 pair aces up.  I bet, he calls.  The turn is a 5.  I bet, he calls.  The river was a k.  I bet, he of course calls.  We show the hands.  I was floored.  He called my pre-flop raise with a 4 - 9 off-suit.  He beat me with 3 of a kind.  Most players I know would never call a pre-flop raise with such a horrible hand, but low and behold he did.  I have had pocket Aces 3 times since I have been playing on a regular basis.  I know pocket aces is a great hand pre-flop but after that it can be beaten.  If I was playing in a no limit tourny I would have raised heavy pre-flop and that guy would never have called me.  Instead I was toasted.

Well the weekend is over June 5, 2006

So it is Sunday night.  Another weekend has passed.  I spent it hanging out with a bunch of women at a party hosted by Facinations, going to a night club, and playing poker.  All in all it was a pretty good weekend.  I did not have much luck with the cards, but I am hoping my that was just to get all the bad luck out of the way before I leave for Vegas. I head out tomarrow after work and I am so looking forward to it.  I will have a nice long update on here from my adventures in Sin City when I get home on Wednesday night.

Site Update June 1, 2006

So after playing around with this for a few days I have once again reinforced my opinion that as a Pisces I really can not make a decision. I have wavered several times as to the background and format of this site. How I wanted it to look, what I wanted it to represent and a bunch of other things. I still have not made a final decision and I figure I never will. Since this site is going to be represent me, and since a person changes and grows as they travel through life, how they are viewed evolves and changes too. So I figured how this is laid out will change quite often.
